Time to dominate the off-season and make the most of this summer! Players will be able to work on every aspect of their game at our skills-intensive 2019 Progression Basketball Camp.
The camp will be June 10-13 at St. Clements (600 E. Yandell, El Paso, TX 79902), 9:00 to 2:00 daily. It is open to all kids just finishing grades 4 to 8. We will split into groups based on ability and age so motivation and competitiveness remain high.
We will focus primarily on Fundamental Skill Development, not playing 5-on-5!
Summer is the ideal time to work on the fundamental skills and movements essential to success in the game of basketball. Playing games and team practices, while important, will not help develop these crucial areas. To this end we will focus extensively on: Attacking the Basket, Finishing, Ballhandling, Shooting, Footwork, Passing, Defense, Teamwork, Maturity and Motivation, and More.
Our goal is to teach players how they can perform at a high level in real game situations. Each day’s curriculum will consist of many different drills, games, and competition designed to develop good technique and the fundamentals every player needs. We will work hard and smart, while teaching drills and philosophy to help players continue improving long after camp is over.
New this summer: Practicing Better and Preparing the Body for Performance
One of our ongoing goals is to help players do everything needed to be successful on the court. A new emphasis this summer will be showing camp attendees how to practice more efficiently and effectively on their own. This is a key aspect of training that is often neglected, causing players to waste too much time and too many opportunities for improvement. But by simply learning and implementing a few small changes most players can dramatically boost their rate improvement. Practicing better = getting better faster.
Another area we will address is nutrition. Brandon Wolfram (head coach for the camp) is Precision Nutrition Certified as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA). He will bring this background and expertise to help players know how to properly fuel their bodies for better performance, recovery, and growth. We will also discuss aspects of performance such as sleep, recovery, body prep (mobility, strength, etc.), and more.
Our Camp Staff
Our coaching staff will be headed by Brandon Wolfram (former UTEP and professional player, licensed coach with USA Basketball, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, Certified Youth Fitness Specialist with the IYCA, and Precision Nutrition certified). All coaches have experience playing and/or coaching at high levels, so you will be learning from people who have been there before!
