Why should I go to the Total Performance Summer Camp (for high school, college, pro athletes)?
If you want to be a better athlete and get your body ready for the upcoming season, the Total Performance Summer Camp is for you. Athletes in our program can expect to become more explosive, get stronger, run faster, change directions quicker, and jump higher. We will offer comprehensive training similar to that used by many of the top athletes and training centers in America. This means we will focus on the core aspects of athletic performance, from strength to mobility to speed to recovery. Everything starts with a base of solid technique, movement skills, and flexibility/mobility, and then (once individual athletes are ready) moves on to focus on strength, stability, and explosive power.
Who is this for?
The 2019 Total Performance Summer Camp is for all high school, college, and pro athletes from every sport in El Paso, TX and the surrounding area. If you are younger (just finishing 8th grade) but have prior strength training experience, this might or might not be the best option. Contact us before enrolling. Younger athletes with no/little experience should check out our other summer programs (like the Total Performance Summer Camp for Middle School) and regular, ongoing classes. Please email, text, or call us if you have any questions.
What will workouts be like?
Being a good athlete depends on developing a wide variety of factors and functionally integrating them together through a long-term process. Workouts will therefore focus on preparing the body (e.g., foam rolling), mobility/flexibility, movement skills, explosive power (Olympic lifts and/or plyometrics), core/medicine ball work, different types of strength development, and (sometimes) elements of conditioning. Sessions will follow a general workout scheme and will be tailored to each individual. Each session will be approximately 1:15 to 1:30 in length.
What is the weekly schedule, and how long does the camp last?
This summer we will have three phases (phases 2 and 3 are four weeks long, phase 1 is shorter because of the end of school). Athletes have the option of training 2 or 3 times per week (M/W/F). You can sign up for as many as your schedule allows for.
- Phase 1 (prep): May 29-June 14; 8 sessions. MWF from 4:00 pm-5:30 pm
- Phase 2 (build): June 17-July 12; 12 sessions. MWF from 4:00 pm-5:30 pm.
- Phase 3 (power): July 15-August 9; 12 sessions. MWF from 4:00 pm-5:30 pm.
If the listed time slots will not work, please call/text us at 915-317-6813 and we will try to work out a solution.
How much does it cost?
With our Total Performance Summer Camp you will get access to our complete sports performance program at a significantly discounted rate (compared to our regular month-to-month classes). Total cost depends on how many times per week you workout and how long you want to train for.
- Purchase 1 phase: $18/session
- Purchase 2 phases: $16/session
- Purchase all 3 phases: $15/session
- Individual session: $20
Can’t I just workout on my own?
Yes you can. But chances are a self-created workout won’t have near the same effectiveness (and can very possibly be counterproductive/dangerous) as a professionally designed program. We will show you what to do, how to do it, and the proper order to do it in. Plus, you can take advantage of camaraderie and competition to make it fun and intense.
What if I go on vacation and can’t make every session?
Continuity of training is important for consistent improvement in athletic performance. This means that the more workouts you can make, the better you will be. But we understand that most people have other commitments during the summer, from family vacations to camps and tournaments. In this case, we can provide you workout templates via printouts or an app on your phone so you can continue training wherever you are. If this is not possible we can work with you to find the best solution.
Who is coaching?
The head coach will be Brandon Wolfram, CSCS, CSAS. Brandon is a former college and professional basketball player who now trains athletes of all sports and levels in El Paso, TX. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, and a Certified Speed and Agility Specialist with the IYCA.
What happens when camp is over?
Training to become the best athlete you possibly can is a long-term process. At a minimum it will take years of dedicated, intentional work. Our Total Performance Summer Camp can be an important part of your development, but please recognize only so much can be done in 8 or 10 weeks. After camp athletes need to continue working out to build on their gains and keep moving forward. To this end, we offer regular Sports Performance Classes for both off-season and in-season athletes. But whether with us or in a program at your school, it is vital to continue training year round.
